Region Västerbotten has about 11,000 employees and operates in around thirty locations in the county. Those of us who work here are driven by the desire to create a safe and strong region, demonstrating how good health and sustainable development are interconnected. The Health and Medical Services Administration is the largest administration within the region, with approximately 9,000 employees. The administration is responsible for ensuring that the people of Västerbotten receive the health and medical care they need and oversees certain highly specialized care in the northern region as well as national highly specialized care. Region Västerbotten operates in three hospitals and health centers and medical clinics in all municipalities of the county.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of Director of Health and Medical Services, you are an active participant in the region's management group work, both alongside other directors and in the management group you lead. You have several direct reports, of which seven are managers. You are responsible for leading and following up the administration through its managers, overseeing personnel, operations, work environment, and finances. You collaborate closely with the political leadership for health and medical services and report directly to the board while supporting the chairperson and ensuring that the board's decisions are implemented.

As the Director of Health and Medical Services in Region Västerbotten, you are responsible for driving and leading health and medical services, which is a large, varied, and complex operation. The Health and Medical Services Administration encompasses everything from primary care in urban and rural areas, dental care, research, education, and development to highly specialized regional and national healthcare. The role requires active collaboration nationally, regionally, and locally with multiple stakeholders. Particularly important is a close and trusting collaboration and leadership of university healthcare together with Umeå University. Collaboration with the three other regions in the Northern Healthcare Region is also of great significance, as well as close cooperation with the municipalities in the county.

In the coming years, the focus will primarily be on achieving increased digitalization in healthcare, enhancing accessibility, and streamlining processes. Another important focus is workforce supply, both in the short and long term.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a relevant university degree or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent.

We are looking for someone with several years of experience in leadership positions within complex and large organizations. This could have been within a municipality, region, or another national or international organization. You have insight into health and medical care and experience leading significant change efforts. You need to have experience leading through other managers and have been responsible for management groups at a strategic level.

It is advantageous if you have experience working in a politically governed organization at a senior level and have media experience. Experience or insight into academic healthcare or any other research-intensive organization is also advantageous.

As a leader, you need to be clear and receptive, with a high communicative ability as collaboration is a significant part of your work. As a strong relationship builder, you have a good ability to collaborate and initiate and maintain good relationships.
